Hawaii Ranks #1 for High Quality of Life in America

According to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index conducted in February 2017, Hawaii is the #1 state in the U.S. for high quality of life. Since 2008, this is the 8th time that the “Aloha State” has received this honor. Gallup held interviews with over 175,000 adults from the 50 states to ask questions regarding the “well-being” of each state.

According to Green Card Lottery Experts, the questions included:

  • SQUAREPurpose – Do people enjoy their lives?
  • Community – Do people enjoy where they live and feel safe?
  • Social – Do people enjoy strong, supportive relationships?
  • Physical – Do people enjoy good health?
  • Financial – Do people enjoy financial freedom that allows reduced stress and increased security?

People who live in the state of Hawaii had higher scores on the survey than residents from the other forty-nine states on the quality of life factors for physical well-being, community well-being, and financial well-being.

Alaska ranked #1 for social well-being, and Texas came in the #1 spot for the purpose well-being factor. After Hawaii, the next ten states that ranked high for quality of life were Alaska #2, South Dakota #3, Maine #4, Colorado #5, Vermont #6, Arizona #7, Montana #8, Minnesota #9, and Texas #10.
