Can I Still Apply for the DV Lottery if I Wasn’t Born in a Selected Country?

If you were born in a country where your parents were temporary residents but not permanent residents that were registered in your birth country, you may still apply for the DV Lottery if one of your parents was born in an eligible country and you also meet the educational requirements. This is called “pulling nativity.”

If you don’t qualify, however, your spouse may be able to apply if he/she meets the criteria. You and your children under 21 years of age would then be permitted to get a Green Card.
